International Nurses Week Celebration 206

“At this very moment, NURSES are being scorned for being late with medicine, and yet they are holding their bladder because they don't have time to use the restroom; starving because they missed lunch while monitoring a patient in intensive care. They're being peed on, puked on, pooped on, bled on, bitten, hit, yelled at and are missing their family while taking care of yours. They may even cry and pray for you. At the moment you are reading this, nurses all over the world are saving lives”

Al Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital, Riyadh. Perhaps, many of you haven’t heard of this hospital.  Situated in the South of Riyadh, Okaz, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it was one of the hospital- opened in the year 2012; this hospital aims to promote health and community service by giving safe- high quality health care keeping pace with the latest scientific developments. After all, maybe someone from the hospital can create a cure for cancer through research… we’ll never know.

As part of the hospitals’ advertising, we have the honor to administrate its 3rd year celebration for the International Nurses Week Program with the theme: “Nurses: A force for change: Improving the Health Systems’ Resilience.”

Organized by Ms. Frencel Hannah Doton (Nurse Educator) for the past three years, with the help of the Nursing Office, they launched the very first sports-festival which promoted camaraderie, creativity, motivation and inspiration to do their job well and teamwork; consisted of throw ball, badminton, Miss Imam 2016 beauty pageant (Ms. Victoria Angelyne Paho), quiz bee, debate, and the poster making contest.

With the assistance of Dr. Majed Abdulhadi Al Magrabi (Assistant Hospital Director) and Ms. Saliha Mohammad Al- Naami (Program Head & Patient Education), the awarding ceremony took place last May 11, 2016 with the awards given to the Best Area for the year 2016- Female Surgery Ward and the Best Nurse 2016 Ms. Lovely Campeña (from Female Surgery Ward) and Ms. Jestin Ann Thomas (from Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Poster making champion was given to the Emergency Department and the highlight of the program, the Food Preparation Competition championed by the Labor/ Delivery Department  as judged by the visitors from the Ministry of Health.

It is delightful to hear such positive news most especially the institution is concerned and appreciates the hard work of the nurses; and one of these is celebrating the International Nurses Week...
